Cahill helps Australia beat UAE

Australia managed to score a single goal to beat the United Arabs Emirates in a tight match thanks to Tim Cahill.

This is the 48th goal that Cahill has scored for the Australian team and might be one of his most important ones. The win allows Australia to maintain their record in the qualifiers and put them in a good place for the qualification for the next World Cup.

Australia started the match well and was the dominant force throughout the game but faced a strong defensive side that did not want to concede. Australia had two early chances through Kruse and Rogic, but both efforts were magnificently saved by the keeper. Mooy had chances on corners and free-kicks, and again it was the UAE goalkeeper that came out the better.

UAE gradually grew in confidence and managed to create chances of their own. Australia could have gone behind in the first half when Omar Abdulrahman managed to get some chances, and it was Sainsbury and Smith that had to clear the ball off the line. The scoreline will stay at 0-0 at half-time.

Australia started the second half just as they started the first half and created occasions after occasions and each time the UAE defence holds on. They will then send on Tim Cahill who will manage to score a brilliant goal only after spending 4 minutes on the pitch. He will strike a beautiful volley after a good cross from Brad Smith.

The Australia coach said that he was delighted with the contribution of Tim Cahill on the pitch. He said that he was proud of his team as they followed the instructions carefully. He said that Cahill was a professional player and managed to change the game just a few minutes after he came on the pitch and that he was happy with his performance.
