December 2022 was the month when all headlines were about the World Cup in Qatar. However, many Australian footballers were making headlines even then. For instance, a Socceroo has been making great strides at a club in Scotland. Another Aussie has gotten into the managerial ranks in a top-five club of the European League.

If we look at England it is rife with many Australian footballers. Alex Robertson is currently in the substitute ranks, they appeared once in a match against Manchester City. Kenny Dougall is another player in the second-tier team who has made appearances for the Blackpool club. Bailey Wright has been in the news as well, making appearances for the Sunderland team.

Aaron Mooy has picked up a single assist and scored twice in four appearances that he has made for the Celtic club. Aziz Behich picked an assist when he started for Dundee United. Kye Rowles and Cameron Devlin have featured for the Hearts club. In the three appearances that Devlin made he has picked up about two assists. Keanu Baccus has been a full-time player for St Mirren. Till now he has played in two matches for the entire length of his club.
Many former Australian footballers are now in managerial ranks. For instance, Ange Postecoglou is now the manager at the Celtic club. He has had a perfect start to 2023 where he led the club to four wins. Now they are sitting atop the scoreboard in the Scottish Premiership league.
There is much going on in the native scene as well. Melbourne Victory, an A league team of the football Australia association, has been handed a hefty fine. It is in the amount of $550,000 which is due to the actions of the active supporters of the club. This happened during Melbourne Derby in December 2022.
