FUTURE UNCERTAIN

by isport

Australian football Federation boss David Gallop has refused to say that the job of Australian coach Holger Osieck is secure after the recent 2-2 draw with Oman in the World Cup qualifying match.

As a result of this dropped points at home, Australia now face a tight battle in order to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The next match for the team will not be until June when they take on Japan in an away match. Gallop has refused to comment on the future of Holger Osieck. He has said that he cannot get any guarantees that Osieck will remain in the job until June.

This has been taken as a huge step towards sacking their manager according to several rumours. Gallop was asked directly whether the manager still enjoyed his full support, but he refused to answer this question as well.

The next three World Cup qualifying matches will be extremely crucial towards securing a place at Brazil. Even though they still have their destiny in their own hands, it is believed that the away match against Japan will decide a lot of aspects.

Osieck said prior to the match against Oman that he expects Australia to constantly win this match due to the number of options he had at his disposal. However, they could manage only a 2-2 draw.

"The Socceroos have the full support of the FFA but it goes without saying that we are under pressure to make it to Brazil and the coach and the staff know that. We want to qualify for Brazil. We've got three games to come and we need to be making sure we give every effort we can into winning those games. No one needs to remind Holger and indeed his staff and indeed the team that they're under pressure," said Gallop.
